Bad news for Roma and in particular for Wesley, who was forced to cut short his experience with Brazil early. The outfielder has in fact suffered a muscle injury that has forced him to leave the training camp and return to Italy. The news, reported by ESPN, deprives the Seleção of a pawn ahead of the upcoming test against Croatia.

The player had taken the field in the previous match against France, playing most of the match, but in the following hours he felt discomfort in his right thigh. The medical staff then opted for an immediate return so he could undergo further investigations in Trigoria.

At home, Roma now await tests to clarify the extent of the problem and define the recovery time. The goal is to have him back available as soon as possible, with an eye already turned to the league match against Inter on April 5, although everything will depend on the evolution of his condition in the coming days.

In the official statement, the Brazilian federation explained that Wesley and Raphinha were excluded from the group after both experienced pain in the back of the right thigh during the match with France. Instrumental examinations confirmed muscular injuries and the two players were allowed to continue treatment at their respective clubs, with no substitutions in the squad.

This season Wesley had missed only one game due to injury (in December against Cagliari, due to a contracture), then was almost always available net of disqualifications. So far he has collected 35 total appearances, with 4 goals and 2 assists.
