After winning Indian Wells without conceding a single set, Jannik Sinner is repeating himself at the Miami Masters 1000. The Blue reached the final of the Florida tournament without even losing a set, and he seems unstoppable. Super coach Goran Ivanisevic, a coach in the past of such great champions as Novak Djokovic, reserved high praise for him in an interview with Sportklub in which he compared him to Carlos Alcaraz.

“Well, I love them both. I’ve been following Sinner since he was a junior and I really like him as a person and as a tennis player. Alcaraz is more versatile, he enjoys playing tennis, he laughs…I always compare Sinner to Novak; they are more similar, only Sinner now has more power, a better motor, tires, wheels, everything.”

“When Jannik Sinner measures you, he bites like a shark, he devours you. Alcaraz plays, up and down … It’s great that they are different, and their matches are incredible, as demonstrated in the Paris final last year, where no one said a word for five and a half hours. That kind of match, that kind of tennis, that kind of intensity, it’s phenomenal.”

At the moment, the two have not yet faced each other in 2026: “They have lost a few matches, especially Alcaraz in best-of-three-set tournaments, but I don’t consider it a crisis. In Grand Slam tournaments, I still think only Djokovic can beat them, although beating both of them in less than two days is extremely difficult.”

On Nole’s chances of winning the 25th Slam: “He will always be up there. Just look at how many tournaments he played last year and he is still third in the world. No matter how much we talk about young people, they are not at that level. We have these two (Sinner and Alcaraz) who play a different sport, we have Alexander Zverev who is always there, and Novak, who is special, the greatest tennis player of all time and can never be left out of the title race.”
