Jannik Sinner and Jasmine Paolini together in Miami: the historic moment

Jannik Sinner and Jasmine Paolini are making Italy and the entire tennis world dream, just a few hours away from the finals that will see them both engaged on the concrete of the Miami Open. The two symbols of Italian tennis, ahead of the final act of their Masters 1000 in Florida, have in fact decided to train together, leaving the audience present in the stands of the U.S. tournament stunned. Meanwhile, two other Azzurri, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori, played and won their final match against Heliovaara and Patten.
The whole thing took place while it was 1 p.m. in Miami, the weather was scorching hot and the sun blazing. It was a very different weather situation than the one forecast for Sunday, when the risk of rain could push back the start time of the two finals. The fact remains that Sinner, expected by Jiri Lehecka, and Paolini, who together with Sara Errano will take on Siniakova/Townsend, indulged in a high-intensity workout in front of the eyes of many onlookers and fans. Very clear the reason: despite the excellent relationship that unites them, it had never happened.
Both very focused, moreover, Sinner and Paolini certainly did not spare themselves. In fact, their training did not turn out to be a mere exhibition for the audience, but a genuine preparation for their respective finals. Lots of quick exchanges between the two golden boys of the tennis of Italy, with a very high pace. Present to support her partner in the doubles, of course, the unfailing Sara Errani. Supporting the San Candido outfielder, however, were Cahill and Vagnozzi, as expected.
There are three previous matches between Sinner and Lehecka. The South Tyrolean champion leads 3-0: the most recent was in the third round of the last edition of Roland Garros when Jannik overwhelmed the Czech, conceding just three games to him (6-0 6-1 6-2 was the final score). The Blue has beaten Lehecka on two other occasions, also in two sets: in the quarterfinals of the Beijing 2024 ATP 500 and in the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells 2024 Masters 1000.
In Miami, should he win the final, Jannik Sinner will complete his hunt for the Sunshine Double, the name by which the Indian Wells and Miami Masters 1000s are known, because they are organized in sunny California and Florida. The last person to succeed in winning both in the same season was none other than Roger Federer back in 2017.
