Federica Brignone gives a hint about her future and reveals Jannik Sinner’s message

It has been a memorable few months for Federica Brignone, who returned after a long injury to win two incredible gold medals at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. The skier from Valle d’Aosta in an interview with ‘Che tempo che fa’ on Channel Nine went over the emotions of the Winter Games, and in particular what happened just after the Olympic triumphs.
“President Mattarella after the race hugged me and said ‘I was counting on it.’ So many people wrote to me, I couldn’t see them because then my phone exploded….” Azzurra also revealed the message from Jannik Sinner, sent at the beginning of the Olympics: “He wrote me right after the downhill, he was already at J-medical with our physiotherapist and they watched the downhill together. In that race I finished tenth but I had very good feelings, and in the next two races it showed…”
Federica Brignone after the Olympics decided to stop the season immediately and take a break: the pain in her leg was too strong. “I just came back from vacation, from surfing. Now I have many commitments: I am between Milan, Rome and other various institutional commitments. I have my visits for my leg, then I will leave with my treatments. My future at the moment is this: I have to figure out how I am. My leg needs rest.”
“I feel like saying ‘Thank you,’ I felt incredible affection from everyone: you were there for me when I needed it,” Federica continued. “I would have preferred not to live this experience, but everything happens for a reason: I tried to face an impossible challenge. I didn’t think I could do it, but I did it.” Azzurra also had a thought for cross-country skier Federico Pellegrino, who announced his retirement, “He is the same age as me, he was great and I wanted to say goodbye to him at his farewell to cross-country skiing.”
