Pecco Bagnaia breaks the balance: another important news ahead of 2027

The Austin weekend, for Pecco Bagnaia, has been decidedly up and down: in the Sprint he crossed the finish line in second place after a good battle with Jorge Martin, while in the long race things were worse, with a disappointing tenth place and the mockery of having also placed behind Marc Marquez, fifth despite the long lap penalty. Vicissitudes on the track aside, there is also a lot of talk about Bagnaia in terms of the future, and from Spain come rumors that the Piedmontese rider has already defined every detail of his next adventure, which will see him riding for Aprilia.

Of official there is nothing yet but ‘AS’ gives it for certain: Pecco Bagnaia would have agreed, with Aprilia, a four-year contract with a 2+2 formula, that is, with an exit option already after two seasons. Such a multi-year contract is reminiscent of that of Marc Marquez back in the Honda days: in that case, the Catalan rider had taken advantage of the exit option at the end of 2023, seeking (and finding) fortune in Ducati, first with the Gresini team in 2024 and then with the factory team from 2025, with which he also won his ninth world title.

The rider from Chivasso, by the way, has reportedly decided to bring his technical chief at Ducati, Cristian Gabarrini, with him to Aprilia as well: another decision destined to make fans and insiders debate. The engineer from the Marche region has a long history in MotoGp: in 2007 he won the title with Casey Stoner, who riding the Desmosedici GP7 gave Ducati its first Riders’ and Constructors’ title in the premier class.

When Stoner left Ducati at the end of 2010, Gabarrini followed him to Honda and won another title in 2011. Before devoting himself to working with Bagnaia, Gabarrini was also chief technician to Jorge Lorenzo, returning to Ducati. On the horizon, then,is a new adventure, which will start in a season in which a technical revolution is also expected: Pecco Bagnaia does not want to be found unprepared.
