The top two finishers in each group will gain direct qualification to FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2027. They will be joined by the four national teams already certain to participate as host countries-Belgium, Finland, Lithuania and Sweden-who will form Group H and continue their journey in parallel with the qualifiers. The top six teams ranked in the 2027 European Championship will then have access to the pre-Olympic tournament, which will put a spot up for grabs for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
These are the words of coach Capobianco: “After what was called the ’round of death’ by FIBA last summer in Bologna, we got a solid, tough, high-level group in these Qualifiers as well. There are top teams in their own brackets, we are talking about national teams that have tradition, high level naturalized athletes and are coached well.”
“We as usual, I’ve been saying this since the first day I coach these extraordinary girls, we have to try to play at the top of our level and then see how it turns out. This is our commitment, knowing that we will face a round where the word respect will be fundamental because we will meet very tough teams.”
