There is not only the search for a reliable center forward among the items marked on the notebook of Milan executives ahead of next summer. The name of Nicolò Zaniolo, in fact, has come up again with the Rossoneri club, looking for a player who can play in different roles in the offensive phase and can make even deeper the squad of a club destined to return next year to play in Europe as well. The player, who is owned by Galatasaray, is so far having a convincing season with Udinese.

In Friuli, Zaniolo has regained continuity and centrality, putting himself back in the showcase after the complicated post-Roma years. With six goals and as many assists at the break in late March, the class of 1999 has established himself as one of the staples of Runjaic’s 3-5-2, forming a complementary and functional attacking pair with Keinan Davis. Zaniolo, in Udine, has also shown maturity and discipline off the field: it is also these aspects that have rekindled the attention of AC Milan, which is watching with interest how the situation is evolving.

At the end of the season, Udinese could in fact exercise the right of redemption from Galatasaray, set at 10 million euros: an affordable figure by Serie A standards, which could turn into a market opportunity, should an offer deemed congruous arrive. In this scenario, the Rossoneri remain vigilant, aware that Zaniolo, due to his technical characteristics and ductility, could adapt well to Allegri’s ideas, especially in a system inclined to enhance insertions and the ability to play between the lines.

The future of the ex-Roma player (who has already played in Milan but with the Inter shirt, although limited to the Primavera Championship and without ever making his debut with the first team in official matches) could therefore be Rossoneri, although it will be necessary to take into account not only Udinese’s strategies but also the will of a player who seems to have found his own dimension in Friuli.
