Trapani Shark case, Coni Guarantee Board writes the'latest chapter

The Guarantee College of CONI has also expressed itself, during the hearing in United Sections chaired by Gabriela Palmieri, on the appeals filed by the Trapani Shark following the exclusion from the Serie A basketball championship of the Granata club, a decision that led to the annulment of all the competitions played up to the moment of the exclusion itself and the variation, among other things, of the number of relegations (one instead of two) as well as the very number of participants in the championship, fifteen, which will return sixteen in 2026-2027.
Specifically, the Collegio di Garanzia del Coni has expressed itself in these terms, as reported by the related official press release: “[The Collegio di Garanzia] has rejected the appeal registered under R.G. No. 88/2025, filed, on December 24, 2025, by the sports club Trapani Shark s.r.l. against the decision taken by the Federal Council of the Italian Basketball Federation in the meeting of November 24, 2025 (Resolution No. 151/2025 – Federal Council No. 4), on the same date communicated by excerpt to the Club (right C.U. no. 320 of November 24, 2025), which resolved to apply to the plaintiff Club the sanction of one (1) penalty point, to be served in the current 2025/2026 season, in addition to the prohibition to provide for the registration and filing of new contracts of athletes and coaches; as well as against any of its prerequisite and/or related acts; it also ordered the full compensation of the costs of the judgment.”
“Dismissed the appeal registered under R.G. No. 15/2026 filed on March 7, 2026, by the Trapani Shark ssdarl sports club against the measure taken by the Court of Sports Appeals of the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) on February 3, 2026, communicated on February 5, 2026, referred to in C.U. no. 478 of Feb. 3, 2026 C.S.A. no. 3, whereby, in rejecting the complaint filed pursuant to Article 96 R.G. by the said appellant, the order of the National Sports Judge of Jan. 12, 2026, referred to in C.U. no. 408 of January 12, 2026 GSN, no. 116 – C.U. Omologazione gare e provvedimenti di legge – Serie A no. 26 Fase qualificazione Girone Unico (also appealed as a related preliminary act), by which match no. 114, Trapani Shark – Dolomiti Energia Treno of January 10, 2026, with a result of 0-0; the exclusion of Trapani Shark from participation in the Serie A Championship for the present 2025-2026 sports season was ordered, retaining the right to register for the Senior Championship with free participation; all matches played by Trapani Shark were cancelled, as provided for by Art. 17, paragraph 3, of the Match Executive Regulations; the sanction of a fine of € 600,000.00, equal to twelve times that provided for the first waiver by the Official Notice Contributions, as established by art. 56, paragraph 2, of the Justice Regulations, was applied; the sanction of a ban for 3 months, pursuant to art. 44 R.G., was applied to the Legal Representative, Mr. Valerio Antonini.It was ordered the transmission of the acts to the Registration Office for the release of senior athletes and to the National Coaches’ Committee for the cancellation of CNA memberships, pursuant to Articles 18 and 19 of the Executive Regulations for Membership and Article 56, paragraph 3, of the Rules of Justice; finally, it was ordered the transmission of the acts to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office for any investigations within its jurisdiction; it also ordered the full compensation of the costs of the judgment.”
