The 48-team roster for the upcoming World Cup is complete. After discovering the four winners of the European playoffs (Czech Republic, Turkey, Sweden and, unfortunately for Italy, Bosnia Herzegovina), the two national teams that won the international playoffs, both played in Mexico, are known. It will be DR of Congo and Iraq that will participate in the 2026 edition of the World Cup.

The match between DR of Congo and Jamaica ended with the Leopards winning 1-0. The match was settled by a goal by Tuanzebe in 100′ of play (untouched goals at the end of regulation time). It was a goal that allowed the DR of Congo to win a pass to the final stage of the World Cup that had been missing since 1974. It will play in Group F with Portugal, Colombia and Uzbekistan.

“We will enjoy the qualification, but we will keep working. We know that we will face the best national teams that participate in the World Cup every four years. We will remain humble, down-to-earth and keep working hard. It won’t be easy, but we will give our all to make our fans and our people proud,” the words to the national media of Mbemba, captain of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The last national team to clinch World Cup qualification was Iraq. At the end of a very tense match, Iraq won 2-1 over Bolivia. Goals by Al-Hamadi and Aymen Hussein were decisive. For the Bolivians in the net was Paniagua. The Iraqi national team joins France, Senegal and Norway in Group I. As a reminder, the 2026 World Cup, the first with 48 teams, will kick off next June 11 and conclude on July 19.
