With the conclusion of the play-offs (European and international), the World Cup roster, kicking off next June 11, is complete. All 48 national teams that will take part in the world’s most important and watched soccer event are known. Concurrently with the completion of the scoreboard, the first issues related to the price of tickets to attend the World Cup matches are arising.

As reported by ESPN, as soon as the last six national teams qualified for the World Cup were known, FIFA unveiled the new prices for several matches. In particular, the price of the most expensive ticket to attend the World Cup final has skyrocketed to $10,990: ithe original cost was $8.680 dollars when FIFA had sold the first tickets after the December draw.

In general, all coupon prices have risen conspicuously, adopting a system of “dynamic pricing,” that is, with the ability to change the cost in relation to the time and teams. In fact, there are those who believe that this edition of the World Cup is not only the most global ever but also the most expensive.

“The adoption of a dynamic pricing system for 2026 World Cup tickets is in stark contrast to FIFA’s core mission of promoting the development of soccer globally in an affordable and inclusive manner,” 69 Democratic members of Congress wrote in a letter addressed to FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “Despite the cooperation of the host cities in making the vision of the largest and most global World Cup in history a reality, the consequences of dynamic pricing will make the 2026 World Cup the most financially exclusive and unaffordable to date.”
