The footballer manifested a severe state of dehydration that necessitated his hospitalization but fortunately the medical bulletin indicates a steady improvement.

This is the official statement released by the Colombian Football Federation: “Through our staff and the National Team Direction we want to inform the public and the media about the state of health of the captain of the Colombian National Team: James Rodríguez. It has been confirmed, after establishing contact with a clinical center in the State of Minnesota, that the midfielder has been under specialist observation due to a medical condition of non-sporting origin.”

“The day after the match against France, the player manifested a severe state of dehydration that necessitated hospitalization for the last 72 hours, in order to carry out preventive clinical monitoring and promote recovery. It is important to clarify that this situation is not related to musculoskeletal injuries nor is it related to the performance of his football activity.”

“Fortunately, the current medical bulletin indicates a favorable evolution and steady improvement. The medical staff of the Colombian National Team maintains continuous and coordinated communication with Minnesota United FC to follow in detail the evolution of his condition. On behalf of FCF, we extend our best wishes to James for a speedy and full recovery,” the note concludes. Thousands of fans through social media have sent messages of support to the former Real Madrid champion.
