Jannik Sinner has a new doubles partner

Filed the prestigious “Sunshine Double,” conquered with consecutive victories in Indian Wells and Miami, the South Tyrolean star has returned to Monte Carlo to begin preparation on clay, a surface on which the new phase of the season will kick off precisely in the Principality.

The Italian is also considering the possibility of playing the doubles tournament in the Monegasque Masters 1000, a choice that could help him accelerate his adaptation to a surface that historically is less favorable to him and on which he is aware that he has room for improvement.

Shedding some light on this hypothesis was, at the microphones of Ubitennis, Koen Bergs, father of Zizou, current number 46 in the rankings, telling how the idea of the pair would be born: “Zizou and Sinner trained together in Indian Wells and Jannik proposed to him to play doubles together in Monte Carlo. Zizou would never have asked him, so he was surprised. I think Jannik really appreciates his attitude and personality. Of course, he will be the one to decide whether to take the doubles court as well.”
