Inter coach Cristian Chivu at the microphones of Sportmediaset took stock of the situation two months before the end of the season: the Nerazzurri, having turned the page after the disappointment in the Champions League, are aiming to make double between Serie A and Coppa Italia. “Being the coach of Inter means having important ambitions. I am happy because we arrive at the last two months of the championship with the possibility of achieving goals. We have a duty to believe that we can win everything that is left,” said the Romanian coach.

Chivu did not hide some annoyance with the controversy of recent times, but he always wanted to keep a low profile: “My principles go beyond the expectations of someone’s narrative. I have not tried to change; I have always remained myself. I don’t feel the duty to make proclamations and seek conflict.”

Among the cases that have erupted in recent months is the one related to Alessandro Bastoni, who has had no peace since his simulation in the match against Juventus. Whistled at every away game, he was also his own negative protagonist with Italy, when he was sent off in the decisive match against Bosnia. On this Chivu has his ideas crystal clear and he did not send them his way.

“Alessandro should not be recovered psychologically. People have shot at him unleashing a real pillory. I think they are the ones who need some psychological work,” the Romanian coach said bluntly.

With seven days to go in the championship, Inter are ahead of everyone on 72 points, +7 from Napoli second and +9 from Milan third. At the top of the scorers’ chart is an Inter player himself, Lautaro Martinez, author of 16 goals in total. Another Nerazzurri excelled in the assists ranking: he is Federico Dimarco, who came in with 13 decisive passes.
