Back-and-forth in the finale between Frosinone and Palermo

The 34th Serie B match between Frosinone and Palermo, a high ranking challenge in the cadetteria, ends 1-1. Calò’s goal for the hosts was answered by Ranocchia for the visiting team.

In the standings, the Ciociari are second at 69 points, the Sicilians remain fourth at 65.

The first half was played at a high pace but without goals: the best chance was for the guests and was signed by Pohjanpalo, who took advantage of a mistake by Monterisi and Palmisani and hit the post.

In the second half, Frosinone started better but managed to get through only on a spot kick: at 75′ Calò with a free kick from over 25 meters past Gomis. Palermo reacted and at 89′ found the equalizer with Ranocchia, served by Pohjanpalo. At the triple whistle it’s 1-1: Filippo Inzaghi’s lineup leaves the Stirpe Stadium with some regrets.

On Saturday there are four Serie B matches scheduled at 3 p.m.: Entella against top-ranked Venezia, Juve Stabia-Cesena, Pescara-Sampdoria and Sudtirol-Modena. At 5:15 p.m. it is time for Avellino and Catanzaro, while at 7:30 p.m. Monza and Bari take the field. Sunday’s three matches close out the round: Padova-Empoli at 3 p.m., Spezia-Mantova at 5:15 p.m. and Reggiana-Carrarese at 7:30 p.m.
