Although happy with victory number 300 on the major circuit and qualification for the semifinals of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, Carlos Alcaraz does not hide that he has a fixed thought related to his biggest rival: Jannik Sinner. Speaking at the end of his quarterfinal win Friday afternoon against Alexander Bublik, in fact, the Murcian pointed out several aspects of his friend-rival, even explaining that he ideally wants to “steal” a couple of shots from him.

“I see that Jannik is doing more buntings than usual, and he’s doing them well,” said Alcaraz, speaking of the outfielder from Sesto Pusteria. “I know he’s been working on it and it will be a good weapon for him. The fact that Sinner is working on different shots all the time certainly pushes me to improve. I would like to have the defense‑attack transitions that Jannik has, and also his serve, which has improved a lot in the last six months.”

Alcaraz also spoke about Sinner in reference to the victories he considers the best of his own career: one of them, for the Murcian, was played precisely against the Azzurro: “I would say that the final of Roland Garros 2025 was one of the best,” confirmed Alcaraz, who on that occasion managed to recover two sets of disadvantage by winning 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(2) a match carved in the epics of the racket.

The two could meet in the Monte Carlo final, rekindling a rivalry that this season, apart from an exhibition match in early January, had yet to be renewed after the six finals played against each other in 2025: the last official challenge remains for now that of the ATP Finals, with Sinner winning in the Turin final 7-6(4), 7-5.
