MotoGP, Alex Marquez not content: ready to turn it all around in Jerez

Alex Marquez has not started the season as he hoped: last year, after three Grands Prix, he was second in the standings, while in 2026 he is eighth and in the last race in Austin he finished seventh, 11 seconds behind leader Marco Bezzecchi. The Spanish rider spoke about this moment during the presentation of his two new eyewear models with Hawkers. Despite the difficulties, he remains confident that he can improve in the next rounds, starting right in Jerez.
Alex Marquez said that all the true values on the track have not yet been seen: “The start of the World Championship was not completely easy, but the first races should always be approached with caution, to understand well where you are and how the situation is. I think after four or five tests everything will stabilize and there we will really see where we are.” In addition, the number 73 puts his hands ahead: “Maybe we are not as strong as last year, but we are working and we have clear ideas to turn the situation around.”
The next stage will be on the Spanish circuit of Jerez, where the Gresini rider has a beautiful memory: “Jerez is a very special circuit for me. Last year I got my first win there, so I hope it can help us change the dynamic after this more complicated start than expected, so that we can start the European season in the best way.”
Alex Marquez also admitted that the team is struggling and is behind his rivals, mainly because of the new bike that is creating several difficulties for him this year. He explained that they are working to improve and that he remains motivated, trusting Ducati’s continued efforts to make progress throughout the season. However, he also stressed the importance of not getting caught up in the rush: “We have to win points and keep calm. We know I’m not the type to settle for a Top 5 or eighth place.”
