Virtus defeated at home and contested, Jakovljevic: "We were not pleased"

Eighth consecutive defeat for Virtus Bologna in the Euroleague: the Black Vuere were beaten at home by Baskonia 72-82 in the game valid for the 37th and penultimate day of the regular season. Down by five points at halftime, Bologna’s team in the third quarter fought point-to-point with the Spaniards, who then took the lead in the last partial. The crowd in the stands began to rail against the team with a very harsh chorus “Out with the p…e! Vuere Nere fuori le p…e!”
The top scorer of the game was Canadian Omoruyi with 22 points, for Bologna well the American Alston with 19 points and Azzurro Hackett with 15. For Niang nine points and nine rebounds.
Baskonia coach Galbiati commented on his team’s success as follows: “It was a tough game, the ninth in the last twenty days. We played well defensively, not always offensively, but we were good against the many atypical quintets Virtus fielded tonight, also because of their injuries. We stayed focused for 40 minutes. Omoruyi is unbelievable, he is so talented, a good passer and has the right mood. He is not always accurate on defense, we have three half-longs and we have to compensate for that.
Virtus coach Jakovljevic commented on the chorus “Out with the p…e!” from the fans, who were very angry in the end of the game. “We have the best fans in Italy and they have the sacrosanct right to express their opinions, even publicly. Certainly the chorus in the final did not please us, but it must give us further impetus to react. The lost balls at the beginning were many, but they were not due to a bad approach, but rather to the fact that we lack a playmaker. Opponents know this, they press us and it becomes more difficult for us. If I were them I would do it too.”
The analysis of the match: “We lost another game where we tried to do our best. We started very badly, 28 points conceded in the first ten minutes is a lot, then we tried to do better, but it was not enough to get the victory.”
