The sweetest triumph for Jannik Sinner: the Azzurro wins the Monte Carlo final against arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz and returns to number one in the ATP rankings, snatching the record right from the Spanish champion. At the end of a hard-fought final, the South Tyrolean prevailed in two sets 7-6, 6-3, rising to 22 consecutive matches won in a Masters 1000 (his fourth consecutive title in this category). Jannik also clinches his 27th career title, edging out Alcaraz, who is stationary at 26.

A very balanced first set, in not easy playing conditions affected by the wind. The Azzurro struggles to get into gear with his first serve and suffers a break right away in the second game, but reacts immediately by counter-breaking the Murcia champion in the third game.

Despite the difficulty with his first serve, the Alto Adige player gains confidence in the service turnovers and risks less, while undermining with an aggressive attitude Alcaraz when the Iberian is beating him. The Spaniard nullifies two break points in the fifth and ninth games, and the set is decided at the tie-break. At the tie-breaks, also very balanced, Sinner rises to 5-2, Alcaraz comes back up to 5-5 by exploiting his service game, then Jannik makes it 7-5 closing a hard-fought set.

Second partial: Alcaraz tries to snatch the serve from Sinner right away in the first game, who reacts and cancels two break points. The world number two continues to suffer on serve; in the third game he cancels a break point but then has to give up the serve, going into a disadvantage. Sinner has two counterbreak points in the fourth game but does not exploit them, three more in the sixth and this time he manages to break serve thanks to an error by his rival and rebalance the set at 3-3.

The confidence of the Blue grows, who keeps the serve without problems and continues to put the Iberian in difficulty in response: in the eighth game comes the long-awaited break of overtaking that closes the match.
