Lionel Messi fails to work magic, Inter Miami forced to draw in new stadium

The Inter Miami fans present at the new Nu Stadium were disappointed. In full recovery, on a free kick, their idol Messi failed to score the goal that would have sealed the victory. Instead, at the end of a spectacular match, the challenge with the New York Red Bulls ended in a draw: 2-2 the final.
The hosts took the lead through Ruvalcaba. It was Salvetti who got the hosts back on track. Inter Miami took the lead, at 55′, with Berterame, on Messi’s own assist, before Mehmeti (17, first career goal), at 77′, found the goal for the final 2-2.
“I think the team deserved much more than what they got: that’s the reality. We paid a very high price for some mistakes we made, which is normal in soccer, but the team did everything possible to win the game. It leaves us with a bitter taste because, although the course of the match was completely different than the other day, the result is the same (2-2 with Austin FC, ed.) and, at the end of the day, that’s what matters,” Miami coach Javier Mascherano said in the post-match press conference.
Inter Miami still remains unbeaten from six rounds to date, although, in this case, the draw is definitely indigestible to Messi and co. After seven days, three wins, three draws and one loss have come. At the moment, Inter Miami is third in the standings.
