Linus Güther sets record in Germany

Union Berlin in the news over the past weekend. A few hours before handing the bench to Marie-Louise Eta, who became the first woman in history to lead a Bundesliga team, the German capital club had already come under the spotlight on Saturday during a 3-1 loss to Heidenheim. In the 84′ minute, Steffen Baumgart brought on Linus Güther, who was just 16 years and 3 days old.
The young outfielder thus became the second-earliest player ever to make his Bundesliga debut, behind Youssoufa Moukoko, who made his debut at 16 years and 1 day in November 2020. After a complicated loan spell at Nice last season, the former Dortmund talent is regaining confidence and continuity with Copenhagen, where he has scored 14 goals in 37 games.
Güther had chosen to join Union last summer, preferring it to Bayern Munich, partly because of his origins: in fact, he was born about an hour and a half from Berlin.
