Sofia Goggia and Laura Pirovano big stars on stage at the Italian Winter Sports Federation’s Media Day. The Bergamasque skier congratulated her teammate, who won her first career downhill specialty cup.

“I think when she says that in the end nothing changes she is referring more to a personal level,” said Sofia Goggia. “A goal that you reach (medals and victories) does not change who you are, they are trophies that give value to the athlete and give an extra connotation to what is the work aspect. But in the end that is the person you are. Regardless of whether I won the Olympics or not, the people who love me would have loved me regardless. Winning a world cup a little bit changes the path of an athlete.”

“Lolli has done so many performances always close to the podium, so many fourth places, and I think in this final season it all came back to her, so congratulations to her.”

Laura Pirovano responded as follows, “Sofia has already said it all, it’s been an incredible few weeks for me it’s changed my career in a very few days. I’m realizing now what happened and what I did and I’m still struggling to realize it.”

“After so many years of good placings and good races, but never good enough, I managed to fulfill the dream of being able to win the world cup and already after the first victory somehow I felt like touching the sky with one finger. Then the other two I don’t know what happened and I don’t know how I did it.”

“When I look at the cup I brought home sometimes I still feel confused. For me it is more than a dream, I have always believed in it and the whole thing makes me incredibly proud. Being able to be in the midst of such athletes succeeds in contributing to what I have done this year.”
