Inter market, Calhanoglu’s future less and less Giallorossi

Just a decade ago from Turkey came yet another rumor about Hakan Calhanoglu’s near future at Galatasaray: “99 percent done, all that is missing is the signature.” Not exactly a detail, one would say, although over the months there has never been a shortage of rumors about him. Rumors fueled mainly by the tensions of last summer, when a return to his homeland seemed really possible, before everything was resolved with the player staying.

In the end, the Turkish midfielder stayed and, as if nothing had happened, he resumed doing what he does best: driving Inter’s game and determining its rhythms. His contract expires in 2027, but in the meantime Calhanoglu continues to be central to the project. He has already put together 30 appearances this season, with 12 goals and 7 assists, numbers more like a striker than a director, embellished by heavy goals at the decisive moment, such as the 2-1 win against Roma and the brace in the Coppa Italia semifinal against Como.

That is why, between what surrounds him and what has changed inside him, even an eventual departure seems less likely today. For Chivu is an indispensable element, the player is happy in the Nerazzurri and even the ownership would have given the green light for another season together, albeit with the risk of reaching a farewell at parameter zero later.

Inter and Çalhanoglu will in any case take stock at the end of the season, perhaps with more trophies in the trophy cabinet. It is not excluded that the possibility of a renewal could also emerge, perhaps at revised figures from the current 6.5 million and with a shorter horizon, considering that his dream remains to one day return to Turkey. But before all that, there is still Inter.
