Roma and Claudio Ranieri are officially parting ways. The official note from the Giallorossi club has arrived on the termination of the contract with the senior advisor following the media clash with Capitolini coach Gian Piero Gasperini. The club did not wait until the end of the season and decided to immediately terminate the collaboration with Ranieri, who had held the role of senior advisor since last July after coaching the Giallorossi last season.

The clashes with Gasperini, particularly over market strategies, which later exploded on a public level after interviews by both parties, prompted top management to immediately end the relationship. “AS Roma announces that the relationship with Claudio Ranieri has ended. The club wishes to thank Claudio for his significant contribution to Roma. He led the team through a very difficult time and we will always be grateful for his efforts.”

Roma thus immediately turns the page and relies on Gasperini: “Looking to the future, our direction is clear. The club is solid, with strong leadership and a well-defined vision. AS Roma will always come first. We have full confidence in the path that awaits us under the technical guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini, with the shared goal of growing, improving and achieving results that live up to our history.”

The rift between the two matured publicly in mid-April, when Ranieri had responded to Gasperini’s veiled criticism of the market in the pre-match Roma-Pisa match: “Both last year and this year I was asked which profiles to take. Every player who arrived was viewed and approved by me and, this year, by the coach. We brought Malen and Wesley to Rome, but not only them: all the others were also chosen through a shared process. It is too easy to reduce everything to those two names. Ferguson, for example, we both wanted him.” , and had also revealed that the Grugliasco coach had been the fourth choice last summer.

Gasperini, for his part, had broken his silence in a press conference in recent days, stating, “For me, Ranieri’s interview was an incredible surprise, there has never been and I say never such a tone, unexpected. I took care not to respond and not to create any kind of harm or difficulty for the team.”
