Amedeo Della Valle applauds Treviso: "Their motivation made the difference"

Disappointed captain Amedeo Della Valle, great protagonist in the first quarter and, in fact, the only one to offer a really sufficient performance among Germani’s ranks. It was not enough, however, to change the outcome of a bad night: a very strong game with 31 points in the first 10 minutes (15 signed by ADV), but ended with Nutribullet Treviso Basket celebrating for a fundamental victory in the salvation key.

After all, the eve had already warned about the difficulty of the commitment. Coach Matteo Cotelli had presented the Venetians with words of great respect: “Treviso is a lineup that is going through a very good moment of form, as evidenced not only by the high-level basketball they are expressing, but also by the four successes accrued in the last five meetings. Compared to the team we met on the first day, it has changed its skin and set-up.” A warning that, in light of the final result, turned out to be as prophetic as ever.

Cotelli had insisted in particular on a tactical aspect that turned out to be decisive in the course of the game: “Treviso is a formation that makes physicality and defensive intensity its main weapons, propitiating, from a statistical point of view, an important number of recovered balls. It was precisely the lost balls, not surprisingly, that became Germani’s Achilles’ heel over the course of the evening.

“We knew the importance of the game,” ADV says, as read in BresciaOggi, “but what came out is that their motivation in the 40′ was the key and the reason for our defeat. We conceded too many baskets on our lost balls: kudos to Treviso for the game they played, at a better energy level than ours.”

A defeat that weighs, but that Della Valle does not turn into a drama: “In the second quarter we stopped having rhythm, conceding too many easy baskets. You can see it from the statistics. But it’s just a stop: it doesn’t change anything in our path.”

Treviso’s victory has a huge specific weight also in terms of the standings: the Marca’s white-blues move away from the relegation zone, leaving Dinamo Sassari – stuck in 15th place, the one that determines the only relegation after Trapani’s exclusion from the championship – more and more in the balance, with a calendar that promises to be very complicated in the remaining days. For Germani, on the other hand, the defeat complicates the race for first place in the standings, with Virtus Bologna ready to take advantage of any misstep to consolidate the lead.
