Perugia off to strong start in Scudetto final, Civitanova crushed in Game 1

Game 1 of the Credem Banca SuperLega Scudetto Finals rewards Sir Susa Vim Perugia, which in front of the Pala Barton Energy crowd (4,951 spectators, sold out) overcomes with authority Cucine Lube Civitanova 3-0 and moves to 1-0 in the series. Angelo Lorenzetti’s team thus opens the title race in the best possible way, winning a clear-cut victory that allows it to look forward to Game 2, scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at 6 p.m. at the Eurosuole Forum. Civitanova, on the other hand, will be called upon to react immediately to restore the balance in the series and seek redemption in front of its own public.
At the opening of the evening there was also a symbolic moment: young Jacopo handed over the official ball to the second referee, a gesture that wanted to reiterate once again the central role of the new generation in the world of volleyball.
The absolute protagonist of the match Simone Giannelli, awarded as MVP of the match. The HCL director (also author of point number 100 of his season) led Perugia’s attack with precision, sending Wassim Ben Tara (15 points, awarded before the match as Credem Banca MVP of the Semifinals), Oleh Plotnytskyi (11) and Roberto Russo (11 points overall, with 3 winning walls) into double figures. In Lube’s house, the only one to reach double digits was Aleksandar Nikolov, author of 10 points.
In a special night also for Sebastian SolĂ© and Fabio Balaso, both at the presence number 400 in SuperLega Credem Banca, the first set opened under the sign of balance, before the decisive extension of Perugia, which closed the partial with a wall by Roberto Russo. Sir then maintains control in the next two sets as well, until Mattia Boninfante’s service error that delivers the final point and makes the Pala Barton Energy party explode.
Perugia thus starts ahead in the series, but the feeling is that this Final still has a lot to tell. The second chapter of an already historic challenge (in fact, Sunday’s will be the sixth intersection in the Finals between the two teams, an absolute record) is scheduled for Sunday, May 3 at 6 p.m., with live coverage on Rai Sport, DAZN and VBTV.
