Italvolley, trio in Genoa: Poland also crushed at tie-break

It ends with Italy’s success over Poland in the AIA Aequilibrium Cup Women Elite. In Genoa, the Azzurri overcame the world champions in the tie-break 3-2 (26-24, 18-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-11) at the end of a hard-fought challenge that lasted more than two hours.

In front of about 2,000 spectators, including federal president Giuseppe Manfredi and mayor Silvia Salis, Julio Velasco’s national team thus completed the three-day Ligurian event undefeated, the last test before the Volleyball Nations League, scheduled from June 3 to 8 in Brasilia against Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Turkey and Brazil.

In the first set Italy chased for a long time, but in the final found a comeback thanks to Antropova and Nervini, closing 26-24. Poland, on the other hand, dominated the second partial, taking advantage of a long break that was worth 18-25.

In the third set, the Azzurri started very strong on a 6-0 run, resisted the opponents’ comeback and won 25-22 with Antropova as the protagonist. Poland reacted in the fourth, took advantage of some Italian errors and took the match to the tie-break winning 22-25.

In the fifth set Italy showed more lucidity in the decisive moments: after the Polish overtake on 6-7, the Azzurri regained control of the match and closed 15-11, thus winning the match and the tournament.

The Italian team was able to win the match and the tournament.
