Adriano Panatta at the podcast La Telefonata with Paolo Bertolucci made further reflections on the surprising defeat of Jannik Sinner, who was surprisingly eliminated in the second round of Roland Garros after a sudden physical collapse he had in the third set of the match against Juan Manuel Cerundolo.

Panatta has a doubt: “But isn’t it by chance that they train him too much? They told me that in the last days before the match they trained him very hard, very hard always at the same time, at noon, to get him used to the heat. If one wins four tournaments in a row of that level, but I say, but give this guy some breathing room…”.

The former Light Blue also sent a message to Sinner’s fans, who were worried after the unexpected setback: “I see that the fans write a lot, on X, on Instagram… you can lose, it can happen, they only make dramas, it seems like a tragedy. Rest assured he will win Roland Garros sooner or later. She will recover, she will be fine, and when the good year comes, she will win it.”

On the same wavelength is Francesca Schiavone, winner of Roland Garros in 2010 and currently present in Paris. The champion, who now devotes herself to coaching, has no doubts about the world number one’s ready recovery: “Stress and tension are part of an athlete’s journey. He, however, is the best also in his ability to handle pressure: he is a master in this. So we will find him again very soon at his level, certainly already at Wimbledon.” Schiavone then turned her thoughts to the other Azzurri still competing in Paris, emphasizing how they are “making normal something that remains exceptional.”

Sinner has already turned the page and is in Monte Carlo, where she will spend at least ten days with the goal of getting rid of accumulated physical and psychological toxins. The break is expected to last at least until June 8, after which the champion will begin specific preparation on grass ahead of Wimbledon, a tournament he will defend as defending champion and which kicks off on June 29.
