On the eve of the Roland Garros men’s final, which will see the No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev and Italian outsider Flavio Cobolli facing each other, Andre Agassi has a very clear idea of what may happen on the clay court dedicated to Philippe Chatrier. Speaking in the studio of ‘TNT Sports,’ the Las Vegas Kid confirmed that he sees the German as the favorite, but he also sang the praises of the Roman, who despite the predictions has all the cards to make the breakthrough.

“Cobolli is showing more and more maturity,” said Agassi, “He manages the game with lucidity, he knows how to change direction without losing balance and, when needed, he defends with great quality. Then there is a fact that weighs in: he has already beaten Zverev in Munich this year, again on clay, a sign that the match-up is not unfavorable to him at all.”

“If it is true that Flavio is aware of the very tough challenge that awaits him, it is also true that Sascha also knows very well that against this Cobolli it cannot be a walk in the park – added the former world number 1 -. The confidence and the level expressed by the Italian make the confrontation much more open than the ranking says.”

Sunday’s will be the fifth overall head-to-head between Alexander Zverev and Flavio Cobolli: the Azzurro got the better of him on one occasion this year, in the semifinals in Munich, with a double 6-3. The German, on the other hand, prevailed in the very last precedent, winning 6-1, 6-4 in Madrid in the quarterfinals, and the first two, dating back to 2025: in the third round of Roland Garros winning 6-2, 7-6(4), 6-1 and in the quarters in Halle beating the Azzurro by a score of 6-4, 7-6(6).
