Juventus market: bianconeri swoop on Mike Maignan

Juventus management is working to fill the gaps in the squad available to Luciano Spalletti, who is coming off a complicated year. Michele Di Gregorio will not stay at the Bianconeri, and the Piedmontese club is looking for an experienced and reliable goalkeeper of international standing to whom it will entrust the goal next season.

One of the first names was that of Alisson Becker, but the road became uphill after Liverpool’s very high demands despite the Brazilian goalkeeper being in the last year of his contract. Things could change in the coming weeks with the arrival of the Reds’ new coach, but the Old Lady has begun to evaluate alternative profiles, and among them would be Mike Maignan.

The French goalkeeper recently extended his contract with AC Milan until 2031, but the latest developments at the Rossoneri’s home may have changed everything. According to rumors reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus has reportedly reconnected with the French national’s agents, conducting a survey to understand the player’s real intentions.

Maignan had already been sought in the past, when he had not yet renewed with the Rossoneri, and has always been a Juventus’ darling, which could now take advantage of the complicated situation at Milan to make its move.

Juventus is not, however, targeting Maignan exclusively. The name of Emiliano “Dibu” Martinez has emerged strongly in recent weeks: the Argentine goalkeeper, world champion in 2022 and an absolute protagonist with Aston Villa in winning the Europa League – the Villans overwhelmed Freiburg 3-0 in the final in Istanbul – has reportedly expressed a willingness to have a new experience in a European league other than the Premier League. The main obstacle remains the high salary received in Birmingham, but the Juventus management led by Damien Comolli is evaluating the feasibility of the operation.
