Carlo Nesti sends a heartfelt message from the hospital after his scare

After revealing in recent days, without hiding his fear, that he had contracted a rather severe form of pneumonia, journalist Carlo Nesti, a former RAI personality and currently active on his social media channels, wanted to send a heartfelt thank-you directly from the clinic where he is being treated to all those who have sent him their thoughts during these difficult days.

“I swear I had no intention of getting in front of the camera on my very first day at the clinic,” explained the Turin-based reporter. “Also because, to be honest, there isn’t much new to report: there’s just moderate optimism, both on my part and on the doctors’ part. Nothing more. But if I’m recording this video, there’s a reason: I was literally struck—I’d say almost stunned—by the thousands of messages of affection and solidarity that poured in on social media.”

“We’re talking about people I don’t know,” he added, “whom I’ll probably never meet, but who took the time to send me a thought, even if just fifteen seconds to write a sentence. And this, believe me, doesn’t go unnoticed. I found myself imagining, almost jokingly, those 160,000 Facebook followers all together in a stadium waiting for me, just like it happened in Maradona’s day in Naples. I walk in, do three dribbles—which I’ve never really known how to do—and head back to the locker room.”

“It would be nice, yes. But then you wake up, you’re 71 years old, and you realize that certain things will remain nothing more than pleasant dreams. The truth is, today I know one thing: behind every comment there is a person, a story, a family. I no longer have my father or my mother, and yet in recent days I’ve felt a closeness that has truly moved me. That’s why I want to thank you, one by one,” Nesti concluded.
