Milan forward Rafael Leao spoke again about his future after the Portugal-Uzbekistan match at the 2026 World Cup (in which he scored a goal in stoppage time). The Portuguese star had hinted at his departure from the Rossoneri in his last three interviews, but now seems to have changed his tone following Ruben Amorim’s arrival as the team’s head coach.

“Right now, I need to stay focused on the World Cup. What I know about this coach is that he’s very good; he did well in Portugal. Things didn’t go as he’d hoped at United, but he remains a great coach,” Leao said.

“I’ll decide my future after the World Cup,” the Portuguese player continued. “The goal? I have to thank the head coach for trusting me up until now because there are many strong players in the Portuguese national team, so I’m very happy to be here.”

“I have to celebrate with my family because this season has been difficult for me. Injuries and a lot of other things in between. Even the season with Milan. I have to thank my family for helping me up to this point. This match, this goal, is for them,” said the Rossoneri star. Thanks to this victory, Portugal has moved up to 4 points in Group K.
