Olimpia Milano and RJ Cole: Full Steam Ahead—Contract Details

Olimpia Milano has set its sights on next season’s point guard: according to reports from Eurodevotion, the Milan-based club is strongly pursuing RJ Cole, who is leaving Reyer Venezia.
The American point guard shone in his first season in the Italian league, averaging 16.4 points per game, 5.2 assists, and an overall efficiency rating of 18 in the league. In the EuroCup, he averaged 12.9 points per game over 18 contests. The player was also sought after by other EuroLeague teams, but Milan acted quickly and appears to have sealed the deal. Reports suggest a two-year contract with a 1+1 option.
RJ Cole, who is represented by the same agency as Armoni Brooks, is expected in Milan in the coming days for his physical and to sign the contract. He will join Darius Thompson and Diego Flaccadori in the backcourt.
Reyer Venice did everything it could to keep him, presenting a two-year offer, but the prospect of playing in the EuroLeague proved decisive. The Venice-based club, which has already confirmed Neven Spahija as head coach for another two years, is now evaluating alternatives at point guard: among the players being considered is Ike Iroegbu, who performed well for Varese in the season just concluded.
