Roma is also interested in the Cagliari prospect: a battle with English clubs

In recent days, talks between Gian Piero Gasperini and Roma’s management have intensified: the goal is to build a competitive roster to build on the excellent results seen this year and to go as far as possible in the Champions League.
The defense will be one of the areas most affected by the Giallorossi’s transfer moves, and Gasperini has asked for fresh talent. Mario Hermoso, 31, has a contract set to expire in 2027, and Marash Kumbulla failed to impress during his loan spell at Mallorca and will need to find a new club.
Among the players the Rome-based club is scouting to revitalize the defense is Juan Rodriguez, a star for Cagliari who has improved tremendously over the past season. Cagliari signed him from Peñarol in the summer of 2025 for 4 million euros; today, his market value has more than doubled.
At the moment, Roma has not yet made contact with Cagliari or Rodriguez’s representatives, but it will need to move quickly if it wants to sign him: several Premier League clubs are ready to make a move.
