Olimpia Milano: Darius Thompson Makes an Immediate Impact

Olimpia Milano has officially announced the signing of Darius Thompson, an American point guard who has become a naturalized Italian citizen, arriving from Valencia. The Tennessee native has signed a three-year contract, and in his first remarks, he immediately showed that he knows exactly what he wants.
“I’m incredibly excited to start this new chapter of my career right here at Olimpia Milano. My family and I want to make Milan our home and become part of the Olimpia family,” said the player, who has nine caps with the Italian national team.
Thompson is coming off a season with Valencia that concluded in the EuroLeague with averages of 9.0 points, 3.1 assists, and 1.0 steals, shooting 40.2% from three-point range on a team that reached the Final Four. In Spain, he also helped the team win the national title, averaging 7.4 points and 2.9 assists. His European career began in the Netherlands, in Leiden, where he won the national cup and was named league MVP. He then moved to Brindisi, Italy, where in his second season he averaged 13.4 points and 5.6 assists, earning a spot on the league’s All-Star First Team.
After stints with Lokomotiv Kuban, Baskonia, Anadolu Efes, and Valencia, Thompson brings a wealth of international experience to Olimpia Milano.
