Hours of fear for Kreso Kovacec; the former Bundesliga player is in a coma

Former Bundesliga star Kreso Kovacec is currently in a coma following emergency surgery required due to a sudden aortic rupture. Serious complications arose following the surgery, leading to a stroke and a brain hemorrhage.
Here is the statement from Hannover 96, the club where Kovacec played between 1995 and 1997: “Kreso Kovacec, who won the hearts of Hannover 96 fans in the late 1990s with his spectacular goals, is currently in a coma following emergency surgery. Anyone wishing to support his family during this difficult time can contribute to a fundraiser.”
“Kovacec underwent emergency surgery due to a sudden aortic rupture. Unfortunately, serious complications arose, leading to a stroke and a brain hemorrhage. As a result, the former forward—father of two boys aged 9 and 15—is now in critical condition and in a coma.”
“During these difficult days, all our thoughts are with him, his wife, his children, and all his loved ones. Anyone who wishes to stand with Kovacec’s family and offer their support can contribute to the fundraiser. Here in Hannover, we’re all keeping our fingers crossed for you. Hang in there, dear Kreso!” concludes the statement from the German club.
Kreso Kovacec came up through the Bochum youth system and later played for ASV Bergedorf, Concordia von 1907, Hannover 96, Tennis Borussia Berlin, Hansa Rostock, Augsburg, and Elversberg before ending his career in 2005 with Lechhausen.
