Serie A Basketball: All Teams Competing in the 2026–2027 Season

With the official ratification by the Italian Basketball Federation during its meeting on Thursday, July 16, the 2026–2027 Serie A basketball season is taking shape. There will be sixteen participating teams, with Scafati Basket and Scaligera Verona joining the league to replace the relegated Dinamo Sassari and Trapani Shark, whose affiliation has been permanently revoked. Also confirmed are the two new Roman teams, SPQR and Maxima, which have acquired the franchises of Vanoli Cremona and Pallacanestro Brescia.

The list of participants therefore includes Amici Pallacanestro Udinese, Aquila Trento, Derthona Basket, Maxima Roma, Napoli Basket, Olimpia Milano, Pallacanestro Cantù, Pallacanestro Reggiana, Pallacanestro Trieste, Pallacanestro Varese, Reyer Venezia, Roma SPQR, Scafati Basket, Scaligera Verona, Universo Treviso, and Virtus Bologna.

“Following the reviews conducted by the Independent Commission and the LBA, all clubs eligible to participate in the Serie A Championship have been admitted to the top-tier competition for the 2026–2027 sports season,” reads the FIP statement. At the same time, the process for the relocation of the home city to Rome, requested by Pallacanestro Brescia and Guerino Vanoli Basket Srl, has been successfully completed.”

During the Federal Assembly, President Gianni Petrucci also extended the FIP’s congratulations to Olimpia Milano, winner of the Scudetto (the 32nd in the club’s history) at the end of the 2025–2026 season, following their victory in the four-game finals series against Reyer Venezia.
