Lodovico Deangeli dispels all doubts: “Great pride after the fear”

Lodovico Deangeli will remain a player for Pallacanestro Trieste and will continue to serve as captain. The Giulian club itself made the announcement in a statement released on Saturday. Deangeli, who turned 26 on May 19, was born and raised in Trieste and has spent virtually his entire career with the red-and-white club, with the exception of one season on loan to Biella and another to Udine between 2019 and 2021.

“I’m the happiest man in the world to have renewed my contract with my hometown team, Pallacanestro Trieste,” Deangeli explained following the announcement of his contract extension. “This year, I’m even happier because of the months and the season we’ve been through, and because of the fear we all felt at certain moments. So, having the chance—thanks to the club and Michael Arcieri—to continue wearing these colors and representing my hometown is a source of great pride for me.”

“It’s always been that way—my whole life, ever since the youth teams, and even in recent years, when we were first relegated and then promoted,” added the Trieste-born basketball player. “I’ll say it again: this year is even more special because we’ve experienced so many wonderful—but also difficult—moments. For me, it was even more important to stay here, because Pallacanestro Trieste isn’t just the team I play for—it’s also the team I’ve rooted for since I was a kid, and that will never change.”

“After this moment of great joy over the contract extension,” he continued, “my daily mission will be to help, as always, the newcomers—especially the Americans—understand our city and our basketball culture. To help them settle in and thrive in Trieste, so we can build another family ahead of the upcoming season. I hope to be able to contribute to this.”

“Beyond that, I want to repay the trust of our general manager, the club, the new president, and the new ownership, because behind every player’s contract renewal lies a great show of trust. I’ll say it again: I’m happy, but now my mission begins to repay all of this, to honor the great trust that has been placed in me, and to prove it every day to the entire city,” Deangeli concluded.
