A great loss for Vincenzo Montella. Unfortunately, the sister of the current head coach of the Turkish national team has passed away.
His sister Caterina lost her life as a result of injuries sustained in a household accident.
“The Turkish Football Federation has learned with deep sadness of the passing of Caterina Montella, sister of our national team head coach, Vincenzo Montella. We extend our deepest condolences first and foremost to our head coach, as well as to his entire family and loved ones,” reads the statement released by the Turkish Football Federation.
The funeral will be held today at the Church of St. Nicholas in Castello di Cisterna, in the province of Naples, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
