One of the most anticipated events of the summer is taking place in the Itria Valley: Gianluigi Donnarumma’s wedding. The goalkeeper for Manchester City and the Italian national team is tying the knot with his fiancée, Alessia Elefante, in a ceremony in Locorotondo, Puglia, which will be attended by many celebrities from the worlds of entertainment and soccer, including Haaland, Guardiola, Maldini, and Tonali. The names of Jannik Sinner and Lionel Messi have also been whispered among the possible guests.

However, during a live TV segment on TG Rai just a few hours before the event, a sensational gaffe occurred that immediately went viral, with the reporter uttering a phrase that spread like wildfire across the web: “In just over five hours, the funeral of national team captain Donnarumma and his partner Alessia will take place,” said the correspondent, substituting the word “funeral” for “wedding.”

Fans went wild on social media: “She perfectly embodied the saying ‘marriage is the grave of love,’” “Gigione will be scratching his head for at least the next 10 days,” “I wanted to express my deepest condolences.”

On the evening before the wedding, a huge party was held in the town square in Fasano: one of the most iconic moments was the couple’s embrace under a giant illuminated arch bearing their names, when the goalkeeper dedicated Eros Ramazzotti’s “Più bella cosa” to Alessia.
