Preseason friendlies: Birmingham vs. Barcelona, probable lineups

Birmingham and Barcelona take the field at 8:45 p.m. for their friendly match at St. Andrew’s Stadium, home of the English team. The Championship side is well ahead in its preparations: the British team is in its final preparations as it will make its League Cup debut next Saturday, the first official match of the season. The Blaugrana’s La Liga debut, on the other hand, won’t take place until August 23, and Flick’s team is only at the beginning of its training camp.

The English side takes the field with nearly a full squad: Davies fields Stansfield as center forward, with Vicente, Fujimoto, and Roberts in the attacking midfield, and Solis and Iwata in the midfield.

It’s a completely different situation for Barcelona, still without its international players and still on the hunt for signings in the summer transfer window. Flick is expected to rely on an unprecedented front three consisting of Adeyemi, Kluivert, and Roony. In midfield, Christensen, Casadó, and Bernal will start. Former Juventus goalkeeper Szczesny is in goal.
