Rome Transfer Market: Koulierakis Deal Done; Now the Hunt Is On for a Fullback, and There’s Already a Favorite

Following the official announcement of Santiago Castro’s signing for the attack, Roma is ready to finalize its first defensive signing. The Giallorossi have finalized the signing of Konstantinos Koulierakis from Wolfsburg: according to reports from ‘Sky Sport,’ the two clubs have reached a full agreement, and only the final formalities required to ratify the deal are being completed. Barring any surprises, the Greek center back will soon be in the capital to begin his new adventure.

With the Koulierakis deal wrapped up, Roma can now shift its focus to another target, Givairo Read of Feyenoord. The 2006-born player is the top candidate for the wingback position, with the Giallorossi having submitted an offer of 25 million euros. The Dutch club is asking for 30, but there is optimism in and around Trigoria: Feyenoord is eager to keep its talent for another year, but Read himself has said he is flattered by the offer and convinced he can do well even outside the Netherlands.

One of the clubs competing for the 2006-born player, Nottingham Forest, has also stepped back: the English side is focusing on other prospects, such as Sporting’s Ousmane Diomandé, effectively leaving Roma alone in the race for Read. This is no small advantage in negotiations that could break through as early as the coming days.

Having come up through the youth systems at Zeeburgia and Volendam, Givairo Read made his debut in the orange-and-black jersey in the Eredivisie during the 2022–2023 season, before moving to Feyenoord the following year, where he carved out a significant role despite his young age. In 2025, as captain of the Dutch Under-19 national team, he won the European Championship in that age group, starting at right back in the victorious final against Spain.
