2026 European Swimming Championships: Updated Medal Tally
Over two weeks of competition, a total of eighty events, six different disciplines, and the addition of Paralympic swimming to the schedule: The European Swimming Championships, now in their 38th edition and taking place this year in Paris at the venues that hosted the Summer Olympic Games two years ago, began on July 31 and will continue through August 16.

The competition began on Friday, July 31, with artistic swimming and diving events: the former will continue through Wednesday, August 5, while the latter will run through the following day. On August 4, the open-water long-distance races will begin, concluding on Saturday, August 8—the same day the high-dive finals will take place.

The second week, on the other hand, will be entirely dedicated to pool swimming events: from Monday, August 10, through Sunday, August 16, a total of 43 gold medals (and an equal number of silver and bronze) will be awarded: In addition, Paralympic swimming events (reserved for various disability classes) will take place on Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16.

As for Italy, the national team is particularly large, with 48 athletes selected (26 men and 22 women). This is the largest delegation ever sent to an event outside Italy, and it includes Olympic champions such as Thomas Ceccon (100m backstroke) and Nicolò Martinenghi (100m breaststroke), 50m freestyle world champion Simone Cerasuolo, rising stars Carlos D’Ambrosio and Sara Curtis—holders of national and international records—as well as Simona Quadarella and Benedetta Pilato.
