Inter Transfer News: Romero Deal Done, Club Targets Two More Stars

Cristian Romero is all but an Inter player, and he won’t be the Nerazzurri’s last signing. Following the signing of John Stones, the Nerazzurri have set their sights on the Tottenham center back, who played for Argentina in the last World Cup: the goal is to build a rock-solid defense for Cristian Chivu.

Romero could join for around 40 million euros, including bonuses: the Spurs have opened negotiations, and the Nerazzurri are now negotiating with the former Atalanta player’s agents to finalize the deal; reports suggest a salary of nearly 6 million euros per season, including bonuses. His arrival will necessitate the departure of one player: Benjamin Pavard will say goodbye to Milan for good after last season’s loan stint.

But that’s not all—Inter Milan has its sights set on two more signings: in midfield, they’re pushing hard for Curtis Jones, the midfielder set to leave Liverpool. The player has fallen out with the Reds and his teammates, and has been heavily criticized by the press for his recent performances in friendlies. Jones’s contract expires in 2027, but at the moment the Reds are asking for no less than 40 million euros for the player. Inter is willing to go as high as 35, but will have to part with Davide Frattesi (who is of interest to Roma).

The target for the wing is Moussa Diaby. The French winger, currently with Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, had already been targeted by Marotta and Ausilio in January and carries an affordable price tag of around 30 million euros. The Nerazzurri would be willing to include Kristjan Asllani in the deal, as he no longer fits into the club’s plans.

Good news on the domestic front: Inter has secured Pio Esposito, reaching an agreement to extend the young striker’s contract—born in 2005—through June 2031. The actual signing is expected upon the team’s return from the summer tour, but the bottom line is clear: the club considers the center forward a key part of its project.
