Lazio Transfer News: Double Hurdle for the Rossoblù Regarding the Forward
Bologna is making a strong push to join the race for Roberto Piccoli. After saying goodbye to Santiago Castro, who moved to Roma, the Rossoblù are on the hunt for a new center forward and reportedly see the Fiorentina striker as the ideal candidate to bolster their attack. The Emilia-based club thus joins the list of suitors, which already includes Genoa and, most notably, Lazio, with Gennaro Gattuso being a huge fan of the player. Compared to its competitors, however, Bologna may have a key advantage: its willingness to sign the player on a permanent basis.
Initial contacts with Fiorentina have already been made, and although negotiations are still in the early stages, the deal proposed by Bologna could prove decisive in convincing the Viola to give the green light to the transfer. In the coming days, discussions between the parties will continue, with Bologna intent on turning its interest into full-fledged negotiations and beating out the competition to secure Piccoli’s services.
Piccoli is a player who knows Serie A well and who had a mixed season with Fiorentina last year, alternating between periods of consistency and others marked by greater difficulty. The Bergamo-born forward, however, has shown he can be decisive in big matches: during the single-group stage of the Conference League, he opened the scoring against Sigma Olomouc with a precise shot from the edge of the box, contributing to the Viola’s 2-0 victory. This display of quality did not go unnoticed by the Rossoblù management.
Bologna, for its part, is working on multiple fronts during this transfer window. In addition to searching for a center forward, the Emilia-based club must contend with the likely departure of Jhon Lucumí, whom Juventus has set its sights on decisively. The sale of the Colombian defender could free up significant financial resources, allowing the club to make a move for Piccoli as well and to complete a roster that, following Castro’s departure, needs substantial reinforcements in attack.
