Lazio Transfer Market: A Devastating Rejection; The Club Turns to a Milan Player for the Attack
Lazio continues to work on the transfer market in search of a new striker, but the deal involving Franjo Ivanovic has become more complicated. The Biancocelesti had reached an agreement with Benfica, but the Croatian center forward’s wishes are holding up the deal. Ivanovic would like to play in European competitions and, for this reason, is reportedly more attracted to the possibility of moving to Lens, which will compete in the upcoming Champions League.
With Ivanovic’s prospects fading, Lazio must now evaluate its alternatives. One of these involves Andrea Pinamonti, for whom talks with Sassuolo could be reopened. Roberto Piccoli is also among the players of interest, although Bologna is a strong competitor for the forward.
The Santiago Gimenez option, however, is more complex. The center forward could become an option for Lazio only if Milan decides to consider a loan deal with an option to buy. Lazio’s transfer market for forwards therefore remains open, with several options on the table following the difficulties encountered with Ivanovic.
Regarding Gimenez, it’s worth noting that Milan appears increasingly inclined to let the Mexican center forward go. With the arrival of Gonçalo Ramos, playing time for the former Feyenoord player has drastically decreased: coach Ruben Amorim does not consider him central to the team’s plans, and in addition to Ramos, Francesco Camarda is also ahead of him in the pecking order. Milan values Gimenez at around 25 million euros, but in the final days of the transfer window, they might even consider a loan deal with an obligation to buy in order to offload his salary—a scenario that would certainly suit Lazio.
Meanwhile, competition for Ivanovic isn’t coming solely from Lens. Como, currently making its historic Champions League debut, has also set its sights on the Benfica player born in 2003 as an alternative to its top target, Fiorentina’s Moise Kean. The Como side, which needs players trained in Italy to comply with UEFA regulations, is monitoring the Croatian’s profile along with that of Irish player Troy Parrott. Lazio therefore risks finding itself in a multi-team race should it decide to make another move for Ivanovic.
