Mercato Venezia: Battle with Parma for the Goalkeeper—Turning to Serie B
Simone Scuffet’s future could once again lie in Serie A. The goalkeeper, born in 1996, is in fact among the players who could leave Pisa, which is ready to start anew under Paolo Bianco with the goal of immediately securing a return to the top flight.
There is no shortage of suitors for the Friuli-born goalkeeper. In recent weeks, there have reportedly been contacts with Parma and Venezia, although at the moment it is primarily the Venezia option that has gained ground. Parma, in fact, believes it is sufficiently covered between the posts with Giovanni Daffara and Edoardo Corvi and does not seem intent on accelerating its pursuit of Scuffet. The situation is different in Venice, where management is working to complete the goalkeeping roster according to Giovanni Stroppa’s instructions.
The Venetian club is looking for a reliable backup behind Filip Stankovic, and Scuffet is considered a possible solution. His experience in Serie A and the reliability he has demonstrated throughout his career are qualities that appeal to Venezia, which may therefore explore further contacts to bring the 30-year-old goalkeeper back to the top flight.
Confirmation of the strength of Parma’s goalkeeping staff also comes from their most recent matches of the season. In preseason friendlies, Zion Suzuki has continued to start in goal for the Ducali, although persistent rumors surround his future: According to French sources, Paris Saint-Germain is finalizing the purchase of the Japanese goalkeeper for approximately 40 million euros, with a possible loan to Juventus as a further development in the story. Should the deal go through, the situation at Parma could change radically, potentially reopening the path to Scuffet.
For his part, Stankovic has started the new season with Venezia as the undisputed starter: the Serbian goalkeeper, after playing a decisive role in the team’s promotion to Serie A, also took part in the Serbian national team’s pre-World Cup friendlies, confirming his status as a top-tier goalkeeper at both the club and international levels. He’s a reliable presence between the posts for Stroppa, who nevertheless wants an experienced and dependable goalkeeper behind him.
Scuffet’s career over the past year and a half has been marked by constant moves. During the 2024–25 winter transfer window, the goalkeeper left Cagliari to join Napoli on loan as part of a swap deal that sent Elia Caprile to Sardinia. His time under Antonio Conte represented another milestone in the Friulian’s career before his move to Pisa. Now, a new chapter in the top flight could be opening up for Scuffet, this time wearing the Venezia jersey.
