At the Zoate Golf Club, Cantine Vitea really made a splash

At the Zoate Golf Club, Cantine Vitea made quite an impression: it is a historic winery deeply rooted in the local area, founded in 1895 by great-grandfather Antonio Faravelli and now in its fifth generation. Over the years, the winery has expanded its horizons, bringing its wines to international markets as well. One of the key elements defining its production philosophy is the adoption of Integrated Pest Management, a practice recognized and regulated by the European Union’s Rural Development Plan. In fact, the winery excludes the use of plant protection products classified as harmful or toxic and limits treatments to only those cases where there is a concrete risk of infection.
The vineyards are located in particularly favorable settings, with good sun exposure and an elevation ranging from 230 to 275 meters above sea level. The soils, predominantly clay-limestone, help define the characteristics of the various wines produced by the winery.
Among the most sought-after wines are the sparkling wines, starting with the Metodo Classico Pinot Nero Pas Dosé, made from a selection of Pinot Noir grapes. There is also great interest in the Pinot Grigio Trame’s and the Bonarda Gallesio, recognized by Vinibuoni d’Italia of the Italian Touring Club and included in the “Wines Not to Be Missed” section. Cantine Vitea’s wines have also been recognized by Italy’s Finest Wines as among the best Italian productions. A winemaking history deeply rooted in the past—so much so that these wines even won over the famous composer Giacomo Puccini.
The Vitea selection was also well-received, featuring the Podere San Carlo Chardonnay, the Riesling Viteus, a winner at the Hunter Award in Merano, and the Buttafuoco Cà del Cervo, awarded the “Corona” by the Vinibuoni d’Italia guide and described as “rhapsodic” by Daniel Thomases. Rounding out the lineup is the Bonarda Historia, prized for its enveloping character and spicy aromas.
During the event, numerous attendees had the opportunity to taste and purchase the winery’s various wines. During the awards ceremony, Antonio Faravelli also presented the relaunch project for the Golf and Wine 1895 brand, which was met with a particularly warm reception from the audience.
