Italvolley Dominates, Defeating France 3-0 on the Road to the European Championships

A strong start for the Senior Women’s National Team. In Koszalin, Poland, Julio Velasco’s Italian squad got off to the best possible start at the Agata Mróz-Olszewska Memorial, defeating France in a decisive 3-0 victory (25-15, 25-22, 25-13). It was a convincing performance in terms of play, intensity, and consistency, offering positive signs as the team prepares for the European Championships.
The serve was the key factor. Italy recorded a total of 14 aces, with five from Antropova and four each from Nervini and Fahr. The next match is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, at 5:30 p.m. against Ukraine, on the second day of the tournament.
Julio Velasco was satisfied after the match: “It was a good first match against France, especially considering that we had a long trip yesterday and didn’t have a full practice this morning—we just worked on serving and receiving. The team took the court very focused and with a good rhythm. We attacked very effectively and also played well on our first-touch attacks. I was pleased with the team. It was a substantial victory because we dominated France: there was a big difference in the first and third sets, while in the second set they played and spiked better. In the end, we won 3-0, and that’s an important result.”
