Turin Transfer Market: Not Just Gineitis—A 20-Million Offer for the Forward

Torino is trying to finalize some outgoing transfers to raise the funds needed for the final touches to Ignazio Abate’s roster. Among those certain to leave is Gvidas Gineitis, who has received several offers for his transfer. Celtic is the frontrunner for the Lithuanian player, having been tracking him for some time, but they’re not the only ones. The Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg is also reported to have made an inquiry about him: both clubs can offer him the chance to play in the Champions League or the Europa League, where he could showcase his talents. Torino has set his value at around 15 million euros.

But Alieu Njie also appears to be on his way out: the Swedish forward has reportedly received a 20-million-euro offer from the Premier League, with Crystal Palace interested in signing him. Born in 2005 and now in his third season with the first team, he has played 31 Serie A matches for Torino over the past two years. The player recently changed agents, and according to Tuttosport, this could slow down the transfer.

This isn’t the first time Njie has caught the eye of foreign clubs: as early as last June, an official offer from Anderlecht—valued at 7 million euros—was received but rejected by Torino’s management. At the time, there were also inquiries from several Premier League clubs, including Nottingham Forest, as well as interest from Lecce in Italy. Torino, which holds the player’s contract until 2029, has consistently made it clear that it will only consider offers commensurate with the winger’s true value.

On the incoming front, however, Torino is working to bring Abate a promising attacking midfielder. At the top of the list is Alphadjo Cissé, born in 2006 and owned by Milan. The Rossoneri had acquired him from Verona during the winter transfer window for approximately 8 million euros, then sent him on loan to Catanzaro, where he saw playing time before being sidelined by an injury. After completing his rehabilitation, Cissé returned to the field in summer friendlies. Torino has requested the player on loan, and Milan has opened negotiations, but only on a temporary basis and without an option to buy, in line with its policy for managing young talent.
