Inter Transfer Market: To Sign Curtis Jones, a Discount Is Needed—But Above All, Three Players Must Be Sold

Step by step, Inter is finalizing its transfer plans. After a process that was anything but smooth—marked by Chelsea’s move to sign Palestra and the unfortunate incident involving Khalili’s medical exams—the Nerazzurri have secured at least one of the priorities they identified at the start of the summer. The right-back position, in fact, is set to welcome Djed Spence, who is expected in Milan in the coming hours to sign his contract with Inter. The deal with Tottenham is worth around 30 million euros plus 2 million in bonuses, but Inter’s transfer activity isn’t over yet. In the final weeks of the summer transfer window, the goal is to provide Cristian Chivu with an even more competitive roster.

The plan hinges primarily on player sales and the opportunity to reinvest the proceeds in the coach’s top target: Liverpool’s Curtis Jones. The Reds continue to value the midfielder at around 40 million euros, but Inter is confident it can drive down the asking price, especially given that his contract expires in 2027. Inter’s plan is therefore to submit an offer between 30 and 35 million. Chivu is particularly impressed with the 2001-born player because of his unique qualities, which differ from those of the other midfielders already on the roster. Jones could become a true utility player, capable of playing in multiple areas of the field and, if necessary, even on the wings.

Part of the budget needed for what could be the last major investment of the summer could come from the sale of Davide Frattesi, who remains on Lazio’s radar. But Inter is also working on other departures, with Asllani and Massolin among the players set to leave Milan. Meanwhile, Akinsanmiro has already said his goodbyes to join Monza.

The situations on the wings also remain to be resolved. Luis Henrique has caught the eye of Roma, which is close to reaching an agreement with Inter for around 27 million euros. To finalize the deal, however, the Brazilian’s approval is still needed, and so far he has not shown full openness to the move to Roma. If the transfer goes through, Inter could return to the transfer market to provide Chivu with another winger. Among the players being scouted is Malick Fofana, born in 2005, of Lyon.
